You bring the kids and the cake. Of course, you can always throw a party for the young at heart, too. Many adults really enjoy a Zoo party for their inner child!

We’ll supply the fun and activities (and an experienced party host to help with the wrangling). There’s nothing more fun (or easy) than a birthday party at the Virginia Zoo. We know how to throw a party, and we do it right with a private party room, kid-friendly treats, gift bag and an up-close-and-personal special animal encounter.

Children and parents alike will have an unforgettable (and even educational) time, and the best part is: you don’t have to clean up! Just remember: balloons, balls, straws, confetti and animals don’t mix.

It’s a party in the Zoo that your child (or inner child) will remember forever.

We offer a great birthday package, with lots of “extras” to choose from to make your party a unique and fun-filled 1 ½ hour experience.  We recommend a total attendance of 30, including up to 15 children, for a great party. Maximum total attendance is 45, with all children ages 1 and up, including the birthday child counted toward the total.

Parties are held on Saturday and Sundays only, and they book up fast! Please reserve early. Party times are:

• 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
• 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
• 1 p.m.   -   2:30 p.m.
• 2 p.m.   -   3:30 p.m.

Parties cannot be extended past the end times; however, all party participants are welcome to spend more time in the Zoo on their own until it closes at 5:00 p.m.

Pick your theme:

1 to 4 year olds:

• Animals on Parade – Meet our friends from different animal groups and discover how they are alike and different.
• Farmyard Friends - Hang out with us for barrels of fun down on the farm! Learn about different animals associated with farm life and meet some personally.

Please note, specific animals cannot be guaranteed, but there will be a good variety for your party.

5 years old and up:

• African Antics - Go on safari and learn how the animals adapt to the heat and meet some African natives.
• Rainforest Romp - Take a trip through the jungle. Animals here can be found everywhere from the forest floor up to the canopy. Meet some jungle friends and discover why they call this place home.

Please note, specific animals cannot be guaranteed, but there will be a good variet for your party.

Your Party Package:

Price: $250.00 members and $300.00 non-members. The member price is available immediately if you decide to purchase a basic family membership at the same time you order your birthday party.

Make the party an all-nighter with our Overnight Sensations!
How’s this for a one-of-a-kind birthday experience? Spend a wild night of adventure at the Virginia Zoo! Partygoers will see the Zoo from a unique perspective: after the Zoo has closed.

Together with a Zoo Host and lots of interesting animals, learn about wildlife and conservation with up-close and personal encounters with the animal kingdom. This wild (but completely safe) all-night event includes games, crafts, live animal presentations, a night walk around the Zoo and behind-the-scenes tours the following morning. Of course, there’s time for cake and presents, and the Zoo provides a light breakfast in the morning.

• $30 per person
• 6 years old is minimum age
• A minimum charge of $350 must be made to secure the date
